How Many Destinations Should You Visit?

Trying to visit too many places is one of the most common Nepal travel-planning mistakes. Mountain roads, changing weather and travel times can make journeys take longer than expected, so allowing enough time between destinations makes the trip more comfortable and enjoyable.

As a general starting point:

  • Three to five days: Focus on Kathmandu Valley or combine Kathmandu with one nearby destination.

  • Seven days: Combine Kathmandu with Pokhara, Chitwan or a short trekking experience.

  • Ten days: Visit two or three major regions while still allowing enough time to enjoy each destination without feeling overly rushed.
